Tip of the Week: June 30, 2007

Sometimes a kiss is just a kiss. Sometimes, a kiss

becomes historic and a work of art.

The Port of San Diego is leasing, for $67,000 per year,

the "Unconditional Surrender" sculpture portraying

the world-famous WWII photograph of a sailor and a

nurse kissing at Times Square in the celebration

of Japan's surrender to the United States in August,

1945.

First impression: this piece of sculpture is huge at 25 feet tall.

For some, like us, it takes our breath away. Placed with the

retired aircraft carrier USS Midway Museum as the backdrop,

it just creates an emotional response that you need to

experience yourself.

Follow Harbor Drive, south, to the G Street Mole, next to the

USS Midway Museum and the Fish Market.
