With over 30 craft breweries in San Diego, San Diego has made a name for itself. Now, North Park brings a new kid to the block from San Francisco to taste local beers and pints more from all over. Ladies and gentlemen, cheers to the landing of Toronado San Diego. They just flung the doors open May 24th despite still needing to finish up the interior and exterior of the place. We were there to witness the packed house. Packed. The local beer scene and their faithful filled the joint. If the local beer guys show up, it has to be worth trying. They are passionate about beer and supporting each other in brewing up the best stuff across the land.

If you love to taste beers, go on over and welcome Toronado to the 'hood. The local owner, Ian, has been working hard and long to get his place open. He hails from Leucadia and has found that the revamping of North Park was a good fit for a new place like Toronado.

Toronado will have regular dinners, but for now, you can get the San Francisco signature sausage sandwiches with grilled onions or roasted peppers.

Beer List

The beers run from $4.00 to $18.00. 50 beers on tap (rotational) and 99 bottles of beer on the wall, well not really, not 99, but plenty. Good and plenty. Some of the Belgian Ales and strong ales are served in specialty glasses. Non-drinkers will find bottled Coca-Cola and Pellegrino.

We'll be back to check out the final spit shine of the place and say more, but for now, we wanted to get the word out.

NOTE: Might be wise to have cash on hand. Toronado might need a little more time to take credit cards. We'll keep you posted. Somebody has to go and check it out!

Toronado is on the west side of 30th St. between Lincoln Ave. and Polk. It is closer to University than El Cajon Blvd. For now, look closely for it. The signage is not up, yet. It is just south of THE SICILIAN THING pizza place.
