Phil's BBQ (3750 Sports Arena Blvd, San Diego)

If you like finger-licking good BBQ, then Phil's BBQ in San Diego is for you.Don't let the lines scare you. Phil's is a well-oiled machine. They keep the line moving and people fed. If you look at the wesbite, look to the upper-right hand corner for the Phil's Cam. You'll be able to see the line outside the building. Don't like lines? You can always call ahead and take your ribs home.

Phil's is insanely popular and has to expand multiple times. In fact, the restaurant has expanded to two outdoor seating areas and there is even a Special Event Center located elsewhere in the same strip mall. Naturally, catering has always been part of Phil's business plan, so if you want to have a party but don't want to cook, why not get some really good BBQ from Phil's. Your guests will thank you!

Phil's BBQ has a separate bar area (with lots of flat screen TV's for sport fans) serving local and other beers on an iced-cold tap. Stand in line, order and sit anywhere you like, inside or out, bar or restaurant. When your order is ready, you'll be signaled by a buzzing remote gizmo. You don't have to keep staring at it - it will vibrate. Trust us.

Phil's has become so successful that the word (from a reliable source) is that they are looking to Escondido and Otay Lakes as 'next' locations. Good news for BBQ fans far and wide.

Here at San Diego Travel Tips, we are suckers for their beef ribs. We eat a whole mess of them because they are tender, tender, tender. We'd venture to say that the beef ribs are the best items on the menu. But, that is just our humble opinion.

TIP: Beware of events at the Sports Arena and the Swap Meet because Phil's will be jam-packed!

TIP #2: Don't wear a white shirt.

REMEMBER: Phil's is still closed on Mondays. It is open Sunday thru Thursday 11 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 11:00 a.m. thru 11:00 p.m.

Are you wondering where Phil's BBQ is but can't place the location? Think the Red Lobster, Yakatori, and Men's Fashion Depot strip mall. Phil's BBQ is located east side of Sports Arena Blvd, just north of the Sports Arena complex. Enjoy!
