High Dive Bar and Grill (1801 Morena Boulevard-at Asher Street)-

This place is doing it pretty much alone. It sits at the corner of Asher and Morena Blvd. You'd have to know it was there to get your interest piqued to step out and check out the High Dive. It isn't so hidden that you'd never spot it on your own. Afterall, if you are driving northbound on I-5, just before you hit Clairemont Drive and at 65mph you get the opportunity to glance to your right, you'll see it. It would be best to be a passenger in that particular scenario. Anyway, High Dive is worth checking out. Truth be told, perhaps we sat on this find too long. We did stumble in one lazy Saturday afternoon and found ourselves happy that we did.

This is a cool place to sit at a high-top table, grab a bite to eat and hang out for awhile. It isn't a dive bar and it isn't high-end, it is just a neat place, off the beaten path, to have something to eat and chill out. The interior has interesting things to look at. The staff was unbelievably great with us. Actually, we'd like to see more restaurant staff be as accommodating and as friendly. At that point, the food could have been horrible and we would have... no, just kidding. Food quality matters.

Speaking of food, the food is good and reasonably priced. They have burgers, pizzas, nachos, chicken wings, and salads. If you like to support local breweries, they have the local stuff on tap.

For those of you always looking for Happy Hour, High Dive serves it up Monday-Friday from 3pm-6pm. Breakfast is served and you can find biscuits and gravy, omelets, french toast and other high calorie, high-carb items. Oh, c'mon- we only live once!

HOURS:
Monday-Thursday: 10:00 AM to midnight
Friday-Saturday: 10:00m-1:00am
Sunday-8:00am-midnight
