Mission Bay Hotels San Diego
If your idea of getting away is to relax by the water, then consider staying at one of the resort destination hotels in Mission Bay.
The City of San Diego owns all of Mission Bay and leases a portion of it to Sea World, six resort hotels, several marinas, and a number of boating rental facilities. Both visitors and locals are drawn to Mission Bay because of its abundance of park land, little beaches, and miles of walking trails. It is a great place to fly a kite, picnic, and even sail a model yacht. How popular is it? According to the Park & Recreation Department, annual attendance in the park is estimated at 15 million! Five of these Mission Bay resorts stand out in terms of their location and quality of experience: Paradise Point Resort - We like this resort because it is spread out in a compound setting. Beach bungalows literally hug the shoreline and allow the visitor to drag their chair out and relax on the sand. It is the most secluded of the Mission Bay properties. Bahia Resort - We like the Bahia because it is owned by a local family. They hotel also has real live seals on the premises which basically brings Sea World to your hotel. Along with the Dana, this hotel is within walking distance of Mission Beach and Belmont Park.
Catamaran Resort Hotel - The sister restaurant to the Bahia Hotel is the Catamaran which is located a couple of miles away and is within one block of popular Mission Beach. If you want to experience the beach and the bay, the Catamaran is a perfect place. The tropical theme of the hotel invites you to relax, have fun, and get away from it all. The Dana - Recently remodeled, the Dana has completely changed its look from the brown shingle roof 60's-era to the white sleek style of 2005. The Dana should appeal to those wanting a more intimate experience in terms of hotel size.
