Here's a sweet tip for both residents and tourists. For 82 years, this
lady has been keeping a watchful eye on Balboa Park. Her views have remained her own over the years. She has stood her ground. The great dame we speak of is the
Park Manor Suites , a seven-story Italian Renaissance style hotel. She is often under appreciated. She is the only hotel sitting on the threshold of San Diego's famed Balboa Park. And she's laid that claim since 1926. She's old, but folks, she's got character.

She also has one of the best panoramic views in San Diego.
No lady would like to be called 'cheap' and it would be bad manners to
to even suggest it, but her rates are, indeed, fair given the location and
the views. Nearly each room has a kitchenette which can shave off
some of the expense of travel. The rooms are spacious (smallest
suite is 525 sq ft), clean and renovated without losing the original vibe.
If you need a hotel with bling, this isn't going to be your thing. But, if
good value and that old world charm melts the chocolates on your pillow,
then park yourself at this place. We're sure they'll leave the light on for ya.
If you are a resident, stop by and have a drinkie-poo up on the rooftop
deck to watch the sunset, or catch a mid-day view or just to have a look
at another great old building in town with a whole lot of history. With all
the new condos, these old buildings remain in our hearts.
If you are visiting or have relatives heading this way, you might consider
this place. A stay at Park Manor could eliminate the need for a car
(think: GAS), if you want to see Balboa Park, the Zoo, and downtown.
The hotel is only 3 miles from the airport and oddly, it is the only hotel,
literally, across the street and 'steps away' from Balboa Park.
And if you plan to just hang out in Balboa Park, you can still walk up
to 6th Avenue to Spruce or take the Balboa Park free shuttle to the Park
Manor Suites for a look-see and check out the view. And yes, you
can have a drinkie-poo, too!
