There is an artistic treasure that sits in the Pacific Ocean 40 feet
above the water off Sunset Cliffs. It is a magical massive rock that
mysteriously has artwork placed upon it under the cover of darkness.
Or so it seems.
In the past there was a Pterodactyl but it was ruined in a winter
storm. The good and creative folks of Ocean Beach came up with
a new idea. They created a translucent, multi-colored peace sign.
As anyone in San Diego knows, leave it to Ocean Beach (OB) to
give birth to the idea and make it happen.
As the group explains, "the Peace sign is intended to inspire a
continual contemplation on tolerance and harmony, and on the
desire of all people and all nations for an end to violence, and a
freedom from conflict or disagreement a time to spread peace."
And now the Peace Rock idea has spread to other parts of the
country. There is now a second Peace Rock in Santa Cruz,
Californa and soon a third in Maine or Massachusetts.
Take a drive along Sunset Cliffs, you'll spot it. It will make you
smile and salute the artists that make this world a better place.
