Pizza Nova is Pizza with a View
Pizza Nova (5050 North Harbor Dr., Point Loma) - We've always wondered why there are, relatively, few restaurants on the water in San Diego. With 70 miles of beach, we could probably count the restaurants that are on the water. There is one restaurant on the water we thought we should tell you about.
Our thing is telling you about places that have something special going for it. Pizza Nova, in Point Loma, is one of those places. Pizza Nova is a local business with three restaurants in Point Loma, Solana Beach, and Hillcrest.
People are pretty picky about pizza. So, we don't want to step into controversy here. Pizza Nova makes wood-fired pizzas. The pizzas run the gamut from margherita to barbeque chicken to sausage and mushroom. All are delicious and are meant to be shared. They also have a variety of appetizers, salads and pasta dishes. Their food is good and fairly priced. The popular $8.95 lunch special is offered daily and it features a personal sized pizza with a mixed salad. The secret fresh from the oven garlic balls, available upon request, are a great way to start the meal with some good hearty carbohydrates. Be sure to ask for them - you won't regret it! For dessert, consider ordering their homemade hot fudge sundae made with Haagen-Daz ice cream and their very own hot fudge sauce. A hot fudge sundae is always a great way to finish the meal (ask for extra fudge.) The bottom line is that Pizza Nova is good, dependable, family-friendly, and a good value. We want to emphasize that what makes Pizza Nova special is this location. Location, location, location. First, it is a relatively unknown location to many San Diegans. But, it sits right on the picturesque docks on San Diego harbor. Any of the tables will give you a great view of the marina. So, let us review: an affordable, good restaurant on the water that isn't over-crowded. That pretty much sums it up.
San Diegans love the access to the water. Pizza Nova gives you the access, a good meal and it doesn't hurt the wallet. So, on a beautiful San Diego day when you're itching to be by the water, go to Pizza Nova and stare out the window. Any closer to the boats and you'd be owning one of those boats, but it is a lot cheaper to go to Pizza Nova.
