FROM THE SEA

  • Torrey Pines Reserve-Jaw-dropping views of the Pacific Ocean from a canyon-like setting. Stealing a glimpse, priceless.
  • Cabrillo National Monument-Top dog in views of San Diego. $5 per car; $15 per year.
  • San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge-Driving over the bridge gives views of the bay, ocean, Coronado, downtown San Diego, as well as the industrial views of San Diego's maritime activities.



FROM THE MOUNTAINS

  • Mount Soledad-Competitor to Cabrillo, but Cabrillo still wins. Both have great panoramic views. Look for the cross on top of the mountain to find the spot.
  • Mount Helix-Offers more eastern views of San Diego. Look for yet another cross that marks the spot.
  • Cowles Mountain-A hiker's paradise, 1,500 feet to the top. However, to get there you need your own two feet.

  • Altitude at the San Diego Marriott Gaslamp-At 22 floors above sea level, it is tops for the highest open-air rooftop bar. This is top of the nest for sure.
  • Top of the Hyatt-This has been a favorite of both San Diegans and downtown tourists for a long time. This sky-high perch predates many of the new downtown high-rises.
