Tip of the Week: February 1, 2007

Did you know that San Diego Bay is home to a population of approximately 60 green sea turtles? Sea turtles have been sighted here since the mid 1800s, probably because the bay's eelgrass beds offer vast foraging areas for these herbivorous turtles.

There is another reason... the South Bay Power Plant in Chula Vista. The South Bay Power Plant uses the bay water to power the plant. Cold water is brought into the plant and warm water is sent back into the bay. While the warm sea water is not good for other sea life, the green sea turtles do enjoy the temperatures and give us an opportunity to enjoy them.
