Wisteria Candy Store is a Best Kept Secret
JANUARY 2009- GREAT NEWS-- After this landmark had to close down in July 2008 due to financial reasons, they have NOW re-opened Thursday-Sunday: 9-5p
The hours are limited so that they can get out and promote themselves. Let's help them out. If you up for a drive, go check out this sweet place.
Tip of the Week: February 9, 2008
My momma always said, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." - Forrest Gump When we drive out to the middle of nowhere usually we find ourselves in the middle of somewhere that time has forgotten. Every now and then, we find that 'sweet spot', a place that has been hidden from 'city folk'.
Highway 94 starts in San Diego and it takes you east to a lot of nowhere's. In fact, Highway 94 can lead you to places you might just choose to forget. Still, it is always great to step off the main roads or to exit on some random offramp to find your own 'sweet spot'.
In this case, we'll lead you to a real 'sweet spot'. Speaking of sweet, and in honor of the sweetest of all commercial holidays, Valentine's Day, why not take your sweetie or sweeties for a Sunday drive out to the Wisteria Candy Cottage.
This tiny place is in the middle of nowhere. The Wisteria Cottage in Boulevard, California, is a throwback to the ol' fashion candy shops.
Not much of a reason for most of us to drive to Boulevard. Just the lack of creativity in the naming of that town, alone, should be the first clue. However, going back longer than most of us have walked this earth, the Wisteria Candy Cottage has been a Boulevard attraction.
Yessiree, the Cottage has been family-owned and operated for almost 90 years.
If you like peanut brittle, taffy, haystacks, and other reminders of used-to-be's, you might have fun making the trek.
The Wisteria Candy Cottage is about one hour from downtown San Diego.
